Model in Site

Reflection

Modern gymnasium
Site:
This building is located at the Castlereagh Street. As there has been a push by council to revitalise this area, and create an architecture that compliments the splendour that is Sydney Tower and interacts with pedestrians in Pitt Street Mall, so I designed a modern gymnasium with its distinct form to enhance the centre of the city. Moreover, as there are lots of office buildings shopping centres or pedestrian building, one gymnasium has its unique function also plays a role in this selected area in city.
Structure:
This parametric system is constructed in x and y stages. The surface is created by lofting the cross curves of the deformed grid. The lofted surface is then divided into unequal sub-surfaces using hexagon’s form. These intersection point UV coordinates then have to converted into a list of UV domains to create the boundaries of each subsurface.
Iterations:
The below iterations show the changing variables from iteration to iteration in terms of: position, expand, stretch, shrink, contract, intensity, positive force to negative force, changing support height. These iterations were chosen and displayed in this arrangement to show a progressive movement through the variable showing “void” low values that create elegant and simple forms to more “intense” values can create complex yet elegant solutions.
